A very disturbing incident at Punjab College Campus 10 in Gulberg, Lahore, has surfaced, where a female student was reportedly sexually abused by a security guard on October 11. According to students, a teacher asked about the absence of a student on which her friends called her and her parents informed them that she was reportedly raped by a security guard of the college. Reportedly the guard’s name is “Aun”. Reportedly a bus driver tricked the girl to come into the basement while saying that her dues were pending and there she was raped by the security guard. When the students claimed, the college administration denied that this incident had not even happened. But on the other hand, the administration also admitted that we have arrested the guard. Here is a big question if there was not any incident occurred then on which basis did they arrest the accused guard. After that on the day of the protest two Mothers of students got back after having a face-to-face talk with the principal of Punjab College Campus 10 and claimed that the principal said that your daughters are character__🤐__.

The administration also threatened the students in the way that we would suspend that student who would support the protest and be a part of it. The administration doesn’t even give any explanation about this incident.

The students also reported that they visited the hospital but once they said that there was no case regarding this incident in this hospital and then the faculty of the same hospital said that they had dealt with this case yesterday and then they discharged her on the same day. How is it possible?

The students also claimed that one of the students has captured the video of the girl who has raped while she was on the stretcher and shifted to the hospital but unfortunately, the principal was aware of this evidence. She came to the class and broke that mobile in front of all the students whose video evidence was present regarding this incident and then threatened the students.

• The guard is currently in his village due to some issues.

Education minister statements

During an interview education minister Sikandar Hayat expressed his support for the students who raised a voice regarding this sexual assault incident. He warned the college management stating that he would take the best measures if any student was punished or suspended for advocating for justice in the wake of this alleged sexual assault. He said according to his knowledge a rape incident of a female student occurred in the Punjab College Campus 10 Gulberg.

He also stated that registration of Punjab College Campus 10 has been suspended. “These are all educational youth, and they raised voices for their sisters, and I am also with them”.

He also said “As a Chief minister I think harassment is beyond that, I have seen it in the last three months that there is no tolerance, so it is necessary that the watchman on whom the students made allegations that he turned off camera helped the girls to come and go, so we have arrested him. Now we are trying to reach the exact core footage of the evidence with the help of higher education, private education, and different agencies and we will adopt the right route. By the way, it is necessary to take this brave step because everyone has the misconception that no one can do anything against the Punjab Group of Colleges. We are very grateful that the Punjab Group has taught crores of students, but if such an incident happens, it may be in any institute, every daughter is the daughter of Punjab, she is the daughter of Pakistan, She is the sister and daughter of all of us and they all have gone to colleges. I have two daughters, they go to school and similarly, my sister goes to a university. So she is also my sister, my daughter, and we have to ensure that how much truth is there in this incident. We take further actions based on the truth of the incident without any political pressure. We don’t want to defame them until the inquiry committee’s report comes, but the registration cancellation is necessary so that it is clear to the world that independent actions are also being taken and instead of suppressing the voice of the students, we should support their voice, because if an incident has happened then it is important to get justice.

We checked the police records and checked hospitals also to find any clue if any such student or any family had reported this incident but unfortunately, we found nothing. We also contact the administration of the Punjab College Campus 10 to gain detailed information about the guard. It was mentioned that there was a guard who had been missing since that day. We have traced him and brought him from Sargodha to ask him questions, and answers. The police started doing all these things and till now we are waiting for whether the victim or his family should contact the police which is yet to happen. On top of that, I have also been going to the college, visiting all their campuses and the girl’s campus Punjab College Campus 10 also, there I also asked them to share any contact information of the victim with us but no one knows the details about this incident. We tried to ask students who were protesting to share any details with us but no one even knew her name. We have contacted the parents of all the students of that name that comes from the different sources that this is the name of the victim. But they all admitted that their daughters are with them and no such incident happened with them. One of the parents told us that his daughter had slipped through stairs and so she got injured but this incident is totally opposite. So We are trying to do our best to find the victim or any evidence to proceed further. He also stated that if anyone gave me the evidence I would file an FIR in the next 5 minutes and ensure to take the best measures against this case.
